Is it better to use regular or hollow tempered glass

  • Many consumers are perplexed by the variety of options available for doors and windows. Why is the price of some glasses so disparate when they all appear to be the same? As a result, consumers who are considering purchasing doors and windows are unsure of where to begin. Today, Xiaobian will share his limited knowledge of door and window glass with you in order to help you better understand it.

Ordinary glass, single-layer tempered glass, hollow ordinary glass, and hollow tempered glass are all available in aluminum alloy for door and window applications.

    1 Typical piece of glass

Float glass is a term used to describe ordinary glass. In part because its thickness is consistent, its upper and lower surfaces are flat and parallel, and it is relatively inexpensive, float glass is a type of glass that is commonly used for aluminum alloy golden doors and windows. The thickness of glass in building doors and windows must be 5mm or greater, according to state regulations.

Despite the fact that ordinary glass is cost-effective, it has several drawbacks, including poor safety and poor sound insulation.

2 tempered glass sheets with a single layer

Tempered glass is a type of glass that is made from ordinary glass after it has been reprocessed. It is primarily employed in environments with stringent safety requirements.

Tempered glass has the following characteristics:

    1. High level of safety: even if the Tempered insulated glass  is broken, the fragments will become small obtuse angle particles, similar to honeycomb, which are difficult to cause serious harm to the human body due to their small size.

    2. Superior impact resistance: The impact strength of tempered glass with the same thickness is 3 to 5 times greater than that of ordinary glass, and the bending strength is 3 to 5 times greater than that of ordinary glass, respectively.

    3. Thermal stability: Tempered glass has a high thermal stability and is therefore recommended. It has the ability to withstand three times the temperature difference of ordinary glass and can withstand a temperature difference of 300 degrees Celsius in one hour.

3 Ordinary glass with a hollow interior

Ordinary hollow glass: two ordinary glasses are held at a specific distance apart by the bonding technique. Intervals are filled with dry air (or inert gas), and the perimeter is sealed with sealing materials.  It is primarily employed in environments where a high level of sound insulation is required.

Hollow ordinary glass has the following advantages: good sound insulation effect, waterproof and moisture-proof properties; however, it has the following disadvantages: instability and poor safety.

Two pieces of tempered glass are held at a specific distance apart by the bonding method to create hollow tempered glass. Intervals are filled with dry air (or inert gas), and the perimeter is sealed with sealing materials.  It is primarily employed in environments where a high level of sound insulation is required.

Hollow tempered glass has the following characteristics: excellent sound insulation, high safety, high impact resistance, waterproof and moisture-proof.

5th, a glass that conserves energy

At the moment, coated glass, hollow glass, and thin-film heat reflective glass are among the most commonly used energy-saving tempered glass (a type of safety glass that is processed and produced in a tempering furnace) materials, with coated glass being the most common. Building doors and windows in general account for more than 40% of total energy consumption in a building. Coated glass, for example, consists primarily of solar thermal reflection glass, low radiation glass, and multifunctional coated glass, among other things.

Thermal insulation, environmental protection, and energy savings are some of the benefits of energy-saving glass; it also has a good sound insulation effect, is safe, has a high impact resistance, is waterproof, and is moisture-resistant.
